Your data works for you. Not for us.
RateLoft collects only what is needed to report your on-time rent payments, protects it, and never sells it. RateLoft is run day-to-day by a small team inside Flagstone Community Foundation. We are a nonprofit service, not a data broker.
What we collect
Only what the bureaus need.
To report a rent payment as a tradeline, we need a small set of identifying and payment fields: name, address, lease dates, monthly rent amount, and whether the payment was made on time.
In some cases a bureau may require a Social Security number or date of birth to match the tradeline to the right credit file. We ask for this only when required and handle it under the same security standards as all other data.
- Resident name, address, and lease dates.
- Monthly rent amount and on-time payment status.
- SSN or DOB only if a bureau requires it for matching.
What we never collect
We do not want data we do not need.
Because we report through the property, we never need the kind of personal information many apps ask for. We do not collect:
- Income, benefits, or household composition
- Bank account numbers or payment card details
- Social Security numbers, except where a bureau requires it for reporting
- Employment history or credit scores
- Browsing behavior, location data, or device identifiers
How we protect you
Safety is not a feature here. It is the foundation.
Encrypted in transit and at rest
Data is encrypted using industry-standard TLS in transit and protected while stored. Access is limited to the small team that operates the service.
FCRA-aligned accuracy and disputes
We maintain written policies for data accuracy under the Fair Credit Reporting Act and handle bureau disputes through the industry-standard e-OSCAR process.
We do not sell or share resident data
Your rent-payment information is used only to furnish tradelines to Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion. It is not sold, rented, or shared with marketers, lenders, or third-party platforms.
Minimal data retention
We keep only the records needed to maintain accurate reporting and resolve disputes. When a property or resident leaves the program, data is retained only as long as required by law or bureau rules.
Your rights
Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, you have the right to dispute inaccurate information on your credit report and to know who has furnished data about you. RateLoft will provide its furnisher identification and dispute contact information with every bureau submission.
You may opt out of rent reporting at any time. Doing so has no effect on your lease or your relationship with your property manager.
